Just like you I have those

Just like you I have those few first grade students who do not care about their clip moving down, ones who are in tears, and others that move it down and work hard to move it right back up. When students came back from Christmas break I realized my classroom management needed a change. I started a ClassDojo and I love it as much as the kids do! Students love going up to give themselves points and watching their points grow. Students have individual and classroom goals. I have it linked to my behavior chart because I still need it to send home behavior slips. If students receive 5 points they know to move their clip up once, 10 points twice, and 15 points they move their clip to the top. If students a negative with their points they have to move their clip down for 2 points. Next year I am hoping all of my parents will join the site so I can get rid of the paper slips and behavior chart. The dojo site is great for communication with parents and the kids love getting onto their own account.
I liked your idea about having the students recite the rule that was broken as a whole class. I am also a fan of having the student with repetitive behavior problems come up with an idea on how they can make sure it doesn't happen again. It holds the student accountable and the parents by asking for a signature.
